Today's road trip is one of the best pre-plan I had ever; tried to plan at the previous night which roads to take.
Avoiding the main freeway, and try to take local country roads or state highway; it was the best choice.
Highway 61, Minnesota, which is leading along with Mississippi river side by side for about 60 to 80 miles long and about one and half hour driving. Very nice driving course for the day!
Throughout the road, there are many small clean towns and cities; some of them looks like resort areas, many boat landing bays.
Minnesota part of the Hwy. 61 ends and leads to the Wisconsin freeway 94. At the Wisconsin state board line, there is a small rest area; which is located at the river island called French Island.
This is very unique rest area, not only stood on the island but has a small hiking course; wonderful short walking roads and many small bugs. The officers of the rest area told me that there are many snakes... and I believe it.
I took the Wisconsin state highway 14 to go to my next Walmart ^^; The Hwy. 14, one of the best backcountry roads I have ever taken so far.
There are towns in which people looks like from 19 centuries. There are towns looks like from old western movie. Too many to describe it here; photos would tell if alright.
Even though it was over 3 hours long driving, I felt that it was less than an hour. Very impressive country side road trip I had today...
While I am typing this diary, there are thunders outside and rain starts... I could not believe it, if I am really chasing the storms... ha ha ha
Tornado Warning, loud siren around, and phone emergency alert !!!
I had to pack and waited on the driver's seat, turning on the engine until the storm goes by, and fortunately it went by without incidents.
